Why Recoat
Refresh and protect,
before damage sets in.

Recoating timber floors is essential for preserving their beauty and extending their life. Daily foot traffic, sunlight and general wear dull the surface and leave timber vulnerable to deeper damage.

We use non-toxic, water-based coatings - durable, low-VOC, and ideal for families and environmentally conscious homeowners. By recoating on schedule, you save on costly repairs or replacement later.

A timber floor that's recoated on time will outlast one that wasn't - often by decades.
The Benefits
Why floors love a
fresh coat.
  • i.

    Restores the Finish

A fresh coat brings back the warmth, depth and sheen that years of use have dulled.

  • ii.

    Enhances Protection

A new layer guards the timber from scratches, spills, sun fade and everyday wear.

  • iii.

    Extends Floor Life

Regular recoating means your floor never wears through - you preserve the boards beneath.

  • iv.

    Saves on Future Repairs

A small recoat now prevents a full sand-and-polish - or full replacement - later.

How recoating works
One pass.
One transformation.

Watch the buffer travel across a tired timber floor and leave a refreshed, gleaming surface behind it. That's the recoating process, in a nutshell.

Before
Refreshed

Light buff · single coat · 1–2 days. No full sand-back, no upheaval - just a careful refresh that brings dull floors right back to life.

The Process
Four steps,
flawless results.

A thorough yet efficient process that delivers consistent results every time - without the disruption of a full sand-and-polish.

01
Surface Preparation

Floors cleaned meticulously - dirt, dust and residues removed. Minor imperfections lightly buffed for a smooth, even foundation that will accept the new coat.

02
Coating Application

A premium water-based polyurethane is applied evenly. Quick to dry, low in VOCs, and highlights the timber's natural beauty while adding genuine protection.

03
Multiple Coats

Depending on protection required, additional coats add depth and amplify shine - strengthening resistance to scuffs, spills, and high-traffic wear.

04
Final Inspection

Every job is inspected to our standards before sign-off. The result is a flawless, resilient surface that breathes new life into your timber floors.

Coating Options
Three finishes,
your choice.

Water-based timber floor sealers and clear coats - popular because they dry quickly, emit fewer VOCs, and deliver a beautifully even finish.

- 01
Matte finish

A low-shine look that accentuates the timber's natural texture - ideal for contemporary and minimalist spaces.

Subtle · Natural
- 02
Satin finish

A subtle, soft sheen that complements both classic and modern interiors. The everyday favourite, durable and forgiving.

Most Popular
- 03
Gloss finish

A radiant shine that enhances the look of any space and amplifies natural light. Striking in formal or high-end settings.

High Impact
When to recoat
Every 3 to 5
years, ideally.

To maintain durability and visual appeal, timber floors generally benefit from recoating every three to five years. The exact interval depends on foot traffic, sunlight exposure, and how well the floor has been maintained day-to-day.

  • High-traffic households Hallways, kitchens, family rooms - recoat closer to 3 years.
  • Quieter rooms Studies, bedrooms, formal lounges - closer to 5 years.
  • Sunlit zones Direct sun ages a finish faster - UV protection is part of every recoat.
  • Not sure where you are? We'll come and assess for free - no obligation, no upsell.

Frequently Asked
Quick
answers.

Recoating questions we hear most often. Have a different one? Get in touch - we're happy to help.

  • How often should timber floors be recoated?

To maintain durability and visual appeal, timber floors generally benefit from recoating every 3–5 years. The exact interval depends on foot traffic, sunlight exposure, and how well the floor has been maintained day-to-day. If you're unsure, give us a call and we'll come assess at no cost.

  • How long does the recoating process take?

The entire timber floor recoating treatment, including drying time between coats, typically takes 1–2 days depending on the size of the space and the number of coats applied. You can usually walk on the floors in socks within 5–6 hours of the final coat, and have furniture back in 48–72 hours.

  • Is the recoating process environmentally friendly?

Yes. We use eco-friendly, water-based timber floor coating products that are low in VOCs - safer for the environment, your indoor air quality, and your family. No solvent-based finishes, no harsh chemicals, no overnight stays elsewhere needed.

  • Do I need to move out during recoating?

No. Because we use low-odour, low-VOC water-based coatings, you can stay in your home throughout the process. We'll let you know which areas are off-limits and for how long, but most clients stay put through the entire job.

  • What's covered by the warranty?

Every recoat job comes with our five-year QBCC workmanship warranty in writing. We stand behind our work - if there's an issue with how the coat has been applied, we'll come back and put it right.
