Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are petroleum based solvents that evaporate from the coating can go on for 8 to 10 years after the solvent based coating is applied. These compounds contribute to air pollution
Maintaining and caring for such a valuable asset as your floor can make a substantial impact on how long it will look great for, and also how long it may be before a new refurbishment coat may be required. Durability of the coating on timber floors varies as to the amount of traffic and the bringing of outside grit into the house. These are a few handy tips to remember; it is always a good idea to have entrance matting at the door so that outside grit can be brushed off before entering the house. Removing outdoor shoes and only wearing indoor shoes inside helps to reduce surface scratches.
We apply three coats of low VOC polyurethane timber floor coating made by Enviro Floors – a base coat and then two top coats. The second coat will look a bit ruff, we call that grain raising so we lightly sand and vacuum ready for application of 3rd coat. Drying time is approximately 2 to 8 hours per coat and you can move furniture back 24 – 48 hours after last coat depending on your time frame. All furniture must be lifted and rugs and mats can be placed on floor after 2 weeks. Timber Decks receive 2 coats.

Larger holes may need a piece of wood to be placed under the hole or plugged with a plug of the same material as the timber flooring. We will endeavour to fill the knots in the timber flooring where possible.
Staining a timber floor is not recommended but with our process in staining timber floors with 40 years of experience we recommend staining the whole floor and then applying 3 coats of low VOC polyurethane timber floor coating made by Enviro Floors.
Gaps between the floorboards should not be filled. Gaps between the boards are not filled because shrinkage, expansion in timber will cause edge bonding and cracking in the filler.
We advise that all furniture and vehicles are removed from underneath your home and/or deck whilst the floor sanding and finishing is being carried out. If you have no other alternative, please make sure that everything is completely covered as we will not take responsibility for any coating spilling through floor boards onto items underneath the home or decks.
The job will require that we use power on site. Each room must have at least one power point and we will require 240 volts to those power points with no builder power poles or having power leads from next door.
Re-coating can be done any time that you feel it is necessary. When recoating boards that have been polished previously we take no responsibility of any problems that may occur. Silicone on a floor will cause rejection of subsequent coats of polyurethane, products containing silicone include ironing spray, hair spray, fly spray. NB: Down lights can produce a cobweb effect on the coatings.

When it comes to wood, too much and too hot water is a no-no and can ruin your floors! Excessive wet patches can stain timber flooring and can even result in expanded and warped boards. The correct mop and mopping technique will prolong the life and beauty of your wooden floors, protecting your investment.
A mop water solution that is! Many people recommend using just water and vinegar.
If you care about your floors, don’t add anything harsh to the mop water like bleach or ammonia. Using a dedicated wood floor solution or just a little soap in the mop water will ensure dirt is better lifted and bring back that beautiful timber gleam.
If you want to add floor cleaners to your mop bucket? Buy this product: Enviro Floors 3in1.
Floor sanding and coating timber decks
Enviro Floors will prepare your timber deck surface before applying our Enviro Deck finish to your deck. Just as you wouldn’t wax your sports car without thoroughly washing it first, you shouldn’t apply any sort of coating on a deck without adequate cleaning. Timber decks need regular maintenance, otherwise they risk becoming discoloured and affected by moisture, weathering and disintegration.
All of your furniture must be moved by yourself or you can use a removalist company. Plus take other objects that may be of your concern for you. Because vibrations can do funny things to objects.
Drying time is approximately 2 to 8 hours per coat and you can move furniture back 3 days after last coat has been applied depending on weather. All furniture must be lifted.
Depending on the amount of weather your deck receives and the type of product you’ve chosen to use, you should be looking to recoat every 6-18 months. Under ideal conditions, where the recommend preparation has been carried out, and the correct film thickness has been applied, Enviro Deck will last approximately 3 times longer than a traditional decking oil, depending on the degree of exposure of the timber to the elements (for example, a sheltered deck will last longer than a highly exposed beach house deck).
Enviro Deck is also a semi transparent protective finish that not only penetrates into the timber but it also forms a protective coating on the surface for added protection. The tint helps to protect the timber from UV attack and will help maintain the timber colour for longer. Enviro Deck is ideal for using on new timber, timber that has retained its colour, or weathered timber whose colour can be revived by sanding back or by using Enviro Deck Wash.
The ribbed part of the decking has ribbing carved into it along the length of the timber. The grooves may be on one or both sides of the timber. Originally, the ribbed part of the decking were designed to be laid downwards to allow air movement around the joists they were laid onto to help prevent rotting. However, the ribbed part of the decking is often laid upwards as many believe they stop slipping. However this is not the case as the grooves trap water and encourage the growth of algae which makes the surface more slippery. Coatings applied to ribbed part of the deck have a shorter lifespan than those applied to smooth, un-ribbed part of the decks
No. DWD must be thoroughly removed back to bare timber. A combination of Intergrain Liquid 8 Paint Remover and power washing, or sanding is recommended. Then clean all timber with Intergrain Reviva Timber Cleaner closely following label instructions. Ensure surface is rinsed clean and allowed to thoroughly dry. Test if the surface is ready for coating by sprinkling water on the timber. If the water beads on the surface repeat the application of Enviro Deck Wash
If the timber is new then it is recommended that you wait approximately 4 to 6 weeks before preparing the deck with Enviro Deck Wash and then coating your deck with a decking Enviro Deck Coating. Tannin rich and oily timbers may require longer. Timber is ready for coating when all the tannins and oils have leeched from the timber. To speed up the weathering process, wash the deck as often as possible, which will assist the leeching process. Decking can be made from a range of timber, for example Cypress Pine, Treated Pine, Blackbutt, Red or Grey Ironbark, White Mahogany, Spotted Gum, Tallow wood, Merbau, Kwila and Jarrah.
Yes, to ensure the timber is properly prepared for coating. When the timber is sanded the process draws out the natural oils that can sometimes create a waxy finish. This waxy finish can prevent the timber finishes from adhering properly. Washing with Enviro Deck Wash ensures that the timber is ready for coating.
